some updates

hello all,
since we released our pre-alpha, we’ve made a few additions:

  1. we’ve added geolocation services, so addresses you input will automatically be sanitized and verified AND the distance between the item you’re looking at and yourself is shown on the item listing page. i also think the system now automatically calculates taxes in the total for you, which is nice.
  2. we’ve added email services. now, when you send someone else a message, the recipient will get a message notifying them that they have a new inbox message. there are some other events where emails are sent, but we think finding them for yourself is part of the fun, so click away!

we’ve also done a lot of bug fixing, especially when it comes to error detection on form inputs (so king paulito can no longer break the site).

leo left for taiwan yesterday, so the pace of development will slow somewhat. while he’s in taiwan though, we’ll be working on stuff like redoing the item bought/sold pages (splitting them into multiple pages), making the blog finally work (fingers crossed), and incorporating multipart emails, for those of you who are still stuck in 1995 with an email client that can’t display html.

we’ll keep everybody posted!

thanks! :)
