happy new year! and more payment processor woes :(

i’m maybe a couple days late in saying this, but happy new year! hope this year brings luck and prosperity :)

so we talked to braintree, at www.braintreepaymentsolutions.com, about payment processing for Receet. they have this great description of the exact same issue we’re facing (they call it the TPPA – Third Party Payments Aggregation/Aggregator issue) and that it can be solved, but faces increased underwriter scrutiny and more difficulties in setting such an account up, but after talking to them, it seems like they can’t help us. they suggested we use paypal -__-

so we’re on the hunt for another payment processing company. i’ve sent inquiries to authorize.net (who are gone this week for the holidays) and to an old high school friend, who is apparently doing payment processing as his business now. we’ll see where that leads us. hopefully we can find someone soon so we can integrate the payment functionality into our site! ahh!

on a lighter note, we finally figured out the super-duper basic issue of image uploading. leo said something like “it only took 6 months and 4 lines of code”, which about sums it up perfectly. hahaha. we’ll be integrating with amazon s3/cloudfront soon, as soon as we get the kinks worked out of our image uploading forms, then it’s on to the shipping api’s we’d like to integrate.

but it looks like it’s coming along very well. originally, we were planning on releasing something new year’s day, but we’ve decided to actually finish all the features we need to put in before we launch it, so it might take until the end of the month.

anyway, like i said, have a safe and prosperous new year!
